The Struggle

Being the sole caregiver to her 50-year-old husband (Mr Riyadh) who appears to be withdrawn and 82-year-old mother-in-law (Mdm Noorjahan) who are both diagnosed with multiple medical conditions places Mdm Sulthambi under tremendous stress. Mdm Sulthambi’s husband suffers from diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and was certified unfit for employment for a year till 22 May 2020 due to the severity of his depression. Help Needed – Give Hope
Mdm Sulthambi’s caregiving duties is coupled with various struggles as she is an Indian citizen and is currently in Singapore on a Social Visit Pass. Although Mr Riyadh and Mdm Noorjahan are both Singaporeans, Mr Riyadh is ineligible to be his wife’s sponsor for her application for Long Term Visit Pass as he is not gainfully employed due to his various medical conditions. This makes it more challenging as Mdm Sulthambi’s Social Visit Pass is renewable every three months.
The family is currently residing in a 1-room rental flat and the three of them are sleeping on worn-out mattresses. With the little that they could afford and the limited social assistance which are barely sufficient to make ends meet, the family is appealing for your help to turn their flat into a home where they are live comfortably in. The family needs your help as some of some of the furniture at home have worn out over time and Mdm Sulthambi is struggling to cope with the financial situation at home.
Financial Breakdown
Ray of Hope would like to raise $2,350 to help Mdm Sulthambi’s family rebuild their home so that they can live in a more hospitable environment. The funds raised will be used to purchase a bunk bed, 2 wardrobes, fridge, dining table, fans and a water heater.
