Zahriyyatun suffers from multiple health issues, including urinary problems, and depends on an Indwelling Urinary Catheter (IDC). She has a history of mental health conditions and has undergone treatment for depression and anxiety.
Despite her health issues, the 34 year-old resumed working two weeks ago. She had hoped to take home around $1,400 for a month’s work, but has not been able to work much due to frequent outbreaks of pain. She has been certified by the doctor to be on light duty in the meantime.
Zahriyyatun’s upcoming hospital visits are for her to follow-up with her psychiatrist, urologist and endocrinologist. She receives some support from the Social Service Office (SSO) but, without a stable job, she worries about her financial situation.
Zahriyyatun shared that she does not share a close relationship with her parents and siblings. Two of her younger brothers are married with their own families to support, while her younger sisters are staying with their parents. Without much family support to fall back on, she hopes to be nurse herself back to health quickly. This allows her to work to support herself, as she does not wish to rely on social assistance to get by.
*Zahriyyatun currently receives social assistance, which will end in May 2022.
