Background

Mdm Amirah*, 32 years old, is a single mother to 3 children between the ages of 3 – 10 years old. She is currently seeking divorce from her abusive husband and has applied for Personal Protection Order against him. Her three children are also under the care of Child Protection.

Her estranged husband was physically abusive not only towards Mdm Amirah but also towards their three innocent children. Mdm Amirah has been burnt by a cigarette bud, punch, kicked and slapped. Her children particularly her eldest daughter was not spared the violence. When she was just five years old, he burnt his innocent young daughter with a heated metal spoon. In May this year, he repeatedly hit his daughter with a hanger, and she was hospitalised for two days.

The Struggle

Mdm Amirah and her three children moved out of their flat shortly after her eldest daughter was discharged from hospital in May this year and temporarily stayed with her father. Her estranged husband has decided to surrender their BTO flat to HDB and has indicated that he no longer wishes to provide financially for his three children.

Mdm Amirah and her children have recently moved into a new rental unit on the 2^nd of August, away from abuse and harm. They are slowly trying to move past their trauma and rebuilt their lives. As the rental unit is new, there are no furnishings, kitchen appliances and lightings. Their house is extremely bare and Mdm Aminah does not have the financial means to purchase household appliances.

S$800 for household appliances and furnishings

S$1,200 (S$200 x 6 months) to defray the family’s living expenses

Please assist Mdm Amirah and her three innocent children as they try their hardest to rebuild their lives.
