Terence, 52 years old, is a father of three children, aged 18, 6 and 2. His wife and his oldest daughter holds a PR status and Student Pass respectively. Terence was previously working as a container driver, earning about $1,200 per month to support his family. However, during his long working hours, Terence suffered from abdominal pain and had to quit his job to look after his health.
Since then, he has decided to upskill himself to boost his employability by joining a course in hotel operations management. To continue supporting his family, Terence works as a part-time kitchen assistant at night earning about $900 per month. However, his salary has been irregular lately as the business has not been doing so well.
Terence’s wife is the main caregiver of their two younger children. Their 6-year-old son is suspected to have autism and thus depends on his mother for his daily needs. Their older daughter is currently in her first year at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE). Due to issues of unemployment and his daughter’s residential status, the family is unable to afford her ITE school fees. Despite the financial constraints, Terence hopes that his daughter could continue receiving education in Singapore.
The father hopes to provide a better quality of life for his three children after he has completed his course. His wife also wishes to be employed once they are able to send their two youngest children to school.
Ray of Hope would like to help Terence with the following expenses:
- His daughter’s school fees for the first semester: $3,030.70
- His children’s milk and diapers: $1,500 ($500 x 3 months)
*Payment of school fees will be made directly to the school.
