Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our resident friends living in our adult disability homes did NOT have any volunteer visits and outings for 2 years. Our friends have intellectual disabilities and/or autism and some of them do not have next-of-kin. They are the ‘invisible’ communities around us.
Our resident friends really miss having special treats and celebrating their birthdays with volunteers. Even as the pandemic situation eases, there will be various restrictions set in place due to the vulnerable population. Nevertheless, we will provide engagement in various creative ways (Zoom, hybrid, restricted in-person etc.) to continue engaging our resident friends. We seek your support in celebrating their special days with teatime treats and birthday cakes! 🙂
We are supporting about 280 resident friends from Moral Welfare Home and THK Home for Disabled @ Sembawang. We aim to raise $650 for each celebration per Home per month ($650 x 2 Homes x 8 months = $10,400).
Updates of each birthday celebration will be posted on this page!
The funds will go towards:
1. Monthly special treats for all residents: Pastries, puffs, ice cream, packet drinks etc. from May to December 2022;
2. Monthly birthday cake for celebrants from May to December 2022;
3. Small gifts for celebrants (eg: stationery, puzzles, crafts etc.);
4. Engaging of professional performers (nominal fees) to bring joy to the residents; and
5. (New! Added on 21/6/2022) Outings for the residents, with consent from the Homes.
