Back in Bangladesh, Sohag was supporting 20 persons living under one roof. This includes his parents, wife, and 3 siblings, as well as their families and 10 children. Sohag’s youngest sister is currently schooling. Both his elderly parents suffers from medical issues due to their old age. As the sole breadwinner, Sohag is worried as he has not been providing for his family financially since the accident.
Prior to the accident, Sohag was earning between $1,200 to $1,300 a month to support his family back home. Each month, he would remit the bulk of his salary home, hoping to improve their lives by working hard in Singapore. Since the accident, Sohag and his family have been borrowing money from relatives and friends to support themselves, incurring a debt of about S$3,600.
