Mother of 4 worried with no source of income after husband incarcerated
“My children eat maggie mee with me on days when there is no food at home”, says Mdm Siti who is struggling to provide for her 3 children while her husband is in prison. Adding on, there are also often times when she has does not have sufficient cash to put food on the table for her children, let alone to have any cash for transport to travel out of their neighbourhood. Mdm Siti’s husband will only be released from prison in December 2023.
Living in a cramped 1-room rental flat with poor ventilation, it is no doubt that Mdm Siti is desperately seeking help so that her children (13, 9, 7 & 3) can have better living conditions to grow up in.
Help Needed – Give Hope
Mdm Siti works as a part-time food stall helper near their place, and brings home between $20-$30 for every day that she is required to work. Her children have also been falling ill frequently over the last few months, making it difficult for her to leave them behind to work. She is also in the midst of renewing her SSO assistance which ended in November. Mdm Siti will also be assisted by the prison officers in her efforts to seek full-time employment.
Financial Breakdown
Ray of Hope is raising $1,720 ($430 x 4 months) to help Mdm Siti with her groceries and children’s milk and diapers expenses while she renews her SSO assistance and works on getting a full-time employment.
*Mdm Siti is currently not receiving public assistance.
