A single parent left her abusive husband to protect her 2 young children – Ms Koh’s story
Ms Koh has been physically hurt and abused by her ex-husband, yet the 23-year-old has never thought of leaving him out of fear and hope that he will change for the better. The final straw was when Ms Koh’s husband started hitting her 5-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter, that Ms Koh decided it was finally time to leave her husband for good, as she no longer wants to put her children’s lives in danger. The single mum is now living with her two aged parents and is having difficulties supporting her 2 young children.
The young mum confided in us and told us how she was afraid to leave him because she feels helpless and is unaware of any help that exists in the community. It is not easy raising two young kids at her age, but the amount of love she shows for them touched our hearts.
Ray of Hope raised $1,200 for her and her 2 children while she awaits results for her divorce and application for public assistance.
What is a Giving Circle?
A Giving Circle is a form of charitable giving where individuals give into a pooled fund set aside to meet the needs of a specific group of people or for a specific need.
How can you help others like Ms Koh?
By donating to a Single Parent Giving Circle, you will be helping many single parents who often feel alone in their journey.
How will the funds be utilised?
Ray of Hope will perform a detailed needs analysis to determine how the money each family will receive. Generally speaking, the donations are used for short term financial assistance, education needs of their children, paying off utilities or town council bills, etc.
100% of the donations will be disbursed to the beneficiaries, Ray of Hope do not take any of the donation for our overheads. All beneficiaries that we are helping have also been verified with documentation and relevant checks with government authorities, so you know that your donation is going to the right families.
Regular updates & Thank you notes to donors who are part of the Giving Circle
As a member of this Giving Circle, you will receive regular updates on who the donation went to, and how the funds are being utilised. From time to time, we also receive simple messages of thanks from the beneficiaries on how you have made an impact in their lives. We will also share them with you.
