Sandeep was employed as a General Worker and had worked for about two months before the accident. On 27th March 2020, Sandeep was moving scaffolding when he fell with many building objects on the ground. The fall injured his back, shoulder, and finger. Although he was briefly treated at the clinic and issued two days of medical leave, he was denied surgery after his employer refused to issue the Letter of Guarantee (LOG) for him to proceed with his surgery. The hospital had tried contacting Sandeep’s employer but to no avail.
Back home in India, the 21-year-old was living under the same roof with a huge family of 24 persons, including his uncles and their families. Sandeep has a 16-year-old sister who is studying. Sandeep’s father works as a farmer and business is bad due to a change in the government’s policy towards farming. His mother was recently hospitalized due to high blood sugar. Sandeep is under tremendous stress as he has not been able to send any remittances home to his family, nor to repay the bank for the remaining $7,500 debt that he owes them due to the agent’s fee that he had to pay.
Ray of Hope would like to support Sandeep by raising $3,000 to help the injured worker and his family. The funds raised would help with their living expenses for 3 months ($1,000 x 3 months).
