Nor is a resilient mother who grew up in the foster care system. She lives in a one-room rental flat with her 9-year-old son. As a single parent, she works as a delivery walker to support her son. The flexibility as a walker gives her more time to spend with her son who has been struggling behaviorally. Despite the long and physically demanding tasks, Nor is now seeking counseling and expresses a strong determination of wanting to provide the best for her son.
“My only wish is to provide my son with the best life possible,” shared Nor.
Ray of Hope wishes to support Nor by raising $1,400 ($350 x 4 months) to help her while her government assistance is pending renewal.
Growing up in the foster care system, Nor has faced countless challenges. Speaking to our caseworkers, Nor opens up about what she went through as a child with her foster family members. She recalls how she allegedly fell victim to her foster dad’s sexual mistreat when she was younger and had to move to different sheltered homes in her growing years.
It took Nor a lot of courage and determination to pick herself up after the mistreat and to move on with her life. Now, as a mother, Nor wishes to protect her son and to be able to support him financially to the best that she can.
Nor currently works as a delivery walker earning approximately $150 – $200 per month, working almost every day. As the job allows her to have flexible working hours, she could care for her son after school. On weekends, her son tags along with her to complete deliveries as well. With very little and inconsistent income, Nor finds it difficult to financially plan for her son’s future.
