Ray of Hope is raising $3,150 ($525 x 6 months) to help Mr Ali’s family. The funds raised will help with groceries and the children’s milk and diapers. Alleviating these financial pressure will give Mr Ali and Mdm Nora some respite on their caregiving journey.

Mr Ali and Mdm Nora, both 38, strive to provide the best for their children, aged 4 and 1. Their elder daughter was diagnosed with speech delay and attends a special needs school.

Mr Ali works as a food delivery rider and is the family’s sole breadwinner. He earns around $500 a month and is unable to work longer hours, because of his caregiving responsibilities. Mdm Nora previously worked as a customer service agent. She suffers from major depressive disorder and relies heavily on Mr Ali to care for their young children.

The family depleted their savings trying to meet their basic needs. Mdm Nora took a bank loan a few years ago to help her parents with their own dire financial situation. However, as they have been unable to service the payments, the loan has since snowballed into a debt of almost $50,000.

“I will do whatever I can, no matter how tired I am. I will do my best to provide for my family who needs me.” Mr Ali shared. Nevertheless, his caregiving role and the bank loan continues to take a huge emotional and mental toll.
