“We live from day to day on my husband’s income. I don’t have savings and I don’t know if we will lose his income when he goes for his operation.”
For the past years, Mdm Nur’s husband has been supporting their family of 9 with his income of $2,100 as a car parts packer. Unfortunately, he met with an accident last year, injuring his right hand and as a result, was unable to work for a period of six months. He has since returned to work but may soon be due for another surgery after his next medical review in June.
With 6 school-going children and their eldest son serving the National Service, Mdm Nur is worried about the impending struggles they may face when her husband goes for his operation and would not be able to work until he gets well. The family has also incurred arrears for their HDB, utilities, and town council payments, which they have been struggling to pay off.
Financial Breakdown
Ray of Hope is raising $2,400 to alleviate some of the debt that Mdm Nur is facing. Hopeful that her husband’s operation will be a minor one with no complications, the amount raised will be used to defray Mdm Nur’s grocery expenses for three months.
*Mdm Nur is currently not receiving public assistance.
