Ray of Hope is raising $2,300 ($460 x 5 months) to help Mdm Zuraidah with her family’s grocery expenses.

Mdm Zuraidah, 50, lives in a 2-room rental flat with her husband, Mr Rosli. Mr Rosli’s 15 year-old son (from a previous relationship) lives with them.

Mr Rosli was the main provider for the family. Unfortunately, he lost his right leg in a motorbike accident in 2009. Using a prosthetic is challenging for Mr Rosli, who needs to be on his feet while working at a F&B outlet during the day and delivering parcels in the evening. The hours he spends standing and walking each day often cause blisters from wearing his prosthetic legs.

Since 2018, Mdm Zuraidah has been going for dialysis thrice a week to manage renal issues. She was making pizzas to support the family, until she underwent a mastectomy in 2019. Mdm Zuraidah also suffers from diabetes and high cholesterol.

Over the years, Mdm Zuraidah’s medical conditions have made it difficult for her to continue working and she was certified permanently unfit for work.

Mr Rosli has since returned to his previous workplace in May 2022 to work part-time. But living on an irregular income has caused multiple stresses to Mdm Zuraidah and Mr Rosli, especially with their health challenges. Yet, they still hope to thrive in life. They have also been working hard to ensure that they do not fall behind their bill payments every month.
