Born in Indonesia, Mdm Tania came to Singapore in 2007 in search of a better life. However, the future seems only bleak for Mdm Tania and her family as they struggle to make ends meet. Mdm Tania is a 37-year-old leukemia patient who was recently hospitalised. She is waiting to undergo bone marrow transplant as her chemotherapy and radiation therapy sessions were not helpful to her condition. The costs of the surgery amounted to approximately $100,000. As such, this huge medical debt has put an immense financial strain on this family of 4. 

Mdm Tania has been hospitalised since the beginning of the year as her condition has yet to be suitable for the operation. Her health has to be at its best to avoid any further complication after the transplant.

Ray of Hope is raising $3,960 ($660 x 6 months) to help Mdm Tania and her family with thier living expenses.

Previously, Mdm Tania had worked as a cooking assistant for a year before she had to quit due to her condition. Her husband has been working as a machine worker for the past 7 years, earning a gross income of approximately $1,700.

Mdm Tania has two schooling sons aged 10 and 22 – the youngest in primary school while the other is in his second year of university. Her eldest son who primarily resides in Indonesia had to come to Singapore in late Dec 2021 to help care for his sick mother as he continues remote and online classes. He is due to go back to Indonesia in March 2022. Surviving only on one salary, Mdm Tania and her family barely have enough to sustain themselves every month on top of the medical bills they have recently incurred.
