The loss of a parent creates a void that is indescribable. As the main caregiver to her late mother, Mdm Nita has been through a wave of grief and emotions after the loss of her mother. Despite all the challenges, she hopes to move on and provide a better life for her family by securing full-time employment soon.

Ray of Hope is raising $1,520 ($380 x 4 months) to assist Mdm Nita’s family with their groceries while she upgrades herself and seeks employment. Your donations would help her tide over these few months while she finds a job to support her 13-year-old son!

56-year-old Mdm Nita was previously the main caregiver to her elderly mother who suffered from multiple medical conditions such as kidney diseases and high blood pressure among many others. Mdm Nita would travel to her mother’s house every morning to care for her mother’s daily activities such as bringing her out for her dialysis sessions, diaper changing and feeding. 

Earlier in October, Mdm Nita’s mother had contracted covid and was immediately isolated in the hospital. Due to the covid restrictions, she was unable to visit her mother during her last days. Her mother subsequently passed on possibly due to an obstruction in the artery and covid. 

Even as Mdm Nita still grieves for her mother every night, she shared that she is determined to move on and focus on providing a better life for her 13-year-old son. Mdm Nita’s husband works as a barber earning approximately $600 every month. However, his salary is not fixed as it was dependent on how well business was doing that month. With the unpredictability of his salary, it is difficult for Mdm Nita to plan ahead financially. 

Mdm Nita shared that she is worried about not being able to secure employment due to her low educational qualifications and age. Hence, she wishes to attend courses to upskill herself and hopes to subsequently gain employment in the near future to supplement the family’s household income.
