Ray of Hope is raising $2,610 to help Mdm Hasni with her family’s living expenses as she awaits her daughter’s admission into school.
38-year-old Mdm Hasni is a single mother with three children aged 17, 16 and 3. Her older son is awaiting admission at the ITE, and her second son is in Secondary 4. Recently, her youngest daughter, Naurah was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and was referred to a special needs school.
As the main caregiver to Naurah, Mdm Hasni is unable to work full time until her daughter enrols in school. Unfortunately, she was advised that the wait time for her enrolment is approximately 18 to 24 months from now.
Mdm Hasni shared with the caseworkers that in order to make ends meet, she would bring Naurah along to deliver parcels. However, it can be challenging as Naurah is minimally communicative. Mdm Hasni earns approximately $50 per day and can work only for a few days in a month.
Mdm Hasni is grateful that her sons are working part-time to supplement the family’s income. She recalled how her eldest son would pass her some cash to pay the bills each month, while her second son would set aside some cash whenever Naurah has medical appointments at the hospital. The family is currently applying for financial assistance at the hospital.
*Mdm Hasni is not receiving social assistance.
