Ray of Hope is raising $1,600 ($400 x 4 months) to help Mdm Fazira with the family’s groceries while her future spouse seeks new employment.
Mdm Fazira works as a delivery rider using her e-bike with her fiance, Mr Aqil. She shared that on a good month, the couple might previously earn around $2,000 collectively. However, the couple now earns approximately only $400 per month. Working tirelessly as a delivery rider for a few years has taken a toll on their physical well-being. Hence, Mr Aqil is now seeking new employment to increase the family’s income.
With the family relying on an unstable source of income, it has been challenging to manage the family’s finances. Over time, the couple has incurred some debts as a result of relying on their income as delivery riders. Mdm Fazira had to take up multiple loans to defray the family’s living expenses when they were tight on cash previously. Now, their monthly loan repayment takes up the bulk of the couple’s salary.
Mdm Fazira shared that the financial pressure is too much for her to bear. The debt collectors have harassed her family multiple times and she is worried that this will affect her son’s well-being in the long term.
*Mdm Fazira is receiving social assistance from the government.
