Mdm Chan is a single mother to her 20-month old boy. The 36-year-old who holds a PR status, hopes to provide her Malaysian son with the best that she is able to afford by ensuring that she remains employed in order to support him.

Prior to giving birth, Mdm Chan had worked as a sale coordinator for about two years. After months of seeking employment, Mdm Chan started working at a coffeeshop in May this year, with high hopes and a promised gross salary of $1,020. Unfortunately, her employment was disrupted when the Covid-19 heightened measures that affected the dining regulations kicked in, just two weeks after starting work.

Although she is receiving a minimal support of $100 from the Social Service Office (SSO), the worried mother is concerned about the duo’s living expenses now until she resumes work. She has also not received her salary for the two weeks of work in May before the measures came in place.

Ray of Hope wishes to raise $2,000 ($500 x 4 months) to tide Mdm Chan through the next 4 months. The financial aid will help her while her employment stabilises in accordance to the Covid-19 heightened measures.

*Mdm Chan is currently receiving social assistance which ends in August 2021.
