Livin is from India and is married with two children aged 14 and 9. His wife is the main caregiver to his children and parents. His elderly father is a stroke patient as well. Before coming to Singapore, Livin had to pay $4,500 for the agent’s fees in hopes of better job prospects here. As a General Construction Worker, he was earning approximately $800 monthly. He would remit the bulk of his salary to support his family’s living expenses.
In May 2022, Livin experienced body aches and difficulty sleeping. After multiple medical assessments, he was subsequently diagnosed with Left Hemispheric Syndrome, resulting in a stroke. He experiences weakness and reduced function to the right side of his body and the doctor has recommended that he requires a caregiver to care for his daily needs.
With no income to support his medical treatment and his family, Livin is under immense stress as the family has lost their main source of income. His two children had to drop out of school as the family was unable to support their school fees after his diagnosis. The resilient father intends to seek treatment back in India.
