Campaign Story Update:
Dear donors, in a step towards providing more clarity on the background of the client, Ray of Hope has updated the campaign story as follows:

Leonah is a 19 year old entertainment worker from Manila Philippines. She has been working in Singapore since early 2020 to earn money to support her mother who is gravely ill. Leonah is currently out of work and is broke. She is taking care of her mother in the Philippines who is suffering from stage 4 breast & bone cancer.
Leonah helps her mother with paying for chemotherapy twice a month, her medication, a caregiver, hospital stays, even transport to and from the hospital. Leonah also helps her mother pay for her electricity bill, water bill and groceries. Her mother is in dire need of continuing chemotherapy twice a month and Leonah is the only one who is providing any financial assistance to her sick mother.
She has two siblings who have children to support and cannot help take away some of the financial burden off Leonah. Her mother is living alone in Manila, Philippines. She cannot live in the province with caregivers or her children because the hospital will be too far away from her home. Her mother has been sick for nearly 13 years now.
Due to COVID-19 and the circuit breaker Leonah has not earned any income since March. She has been out of work and is struggling to pay her own rent, afford to see a doctor or afford nutritious and regular meals for herself as well. Leonah does not have any savings at the moment. All the money she did have was going towards her mother.
Leonah is unable to apply for any Government Schemes as she is not a Singapore citizen. She cannot even afford to fly back to the Philippines and her work permit expires on June 15th.
Leonah has shared with us that her mother’s treatment costs 40,000 pesos (S$1,119) per month for chemotherapy. Her mother has completed two sessions of chemotherapy and needs another eight sessions which will amount to S$8,952.
Ray of Hope is raising S$9,852 which will cover the treatment fees and Leonah’s living expenses ($300 x 2 months) during this period. Your donations will allow Leonah’s mother to receive treatment without worrying about the fees!
*Leonah is not eligible for any Government Schemes as she is not a Singapore citizen.
