Since April 2020, Engineering Good (EG) has given out over 5,800 laptops to low-income families through over 200 social service agencies. We have processed more than 10,000 laptops as of January 2022 but are still trying to fulfil an average of 200 requests a month for laptops for underprivileged families and individuals who do not have access to these devices to stay digitally connected. These laptops are used for purposes such as children’s home-based learning needs, staying connected with loved ones overseas and adults looking for employment to access on-line job databases.

To meet this need, EG is repairing and refurbishing donated laptops.

We aim to raise $10,000 through this 3-month campaign, which will go towards purchasing spare parts, accessories and to upgrade the software for some of the older laptops we receive.

It costs around $100 to fix 1 laptop, so the $10,000 will enable us to refurbish 100 laptops and support digital access for 100 recipients.

About Engineering Good

We are a Singapore based non-profit organization that champions inclusivity for disadvantaged communities through engineering and technology solutions. The 2 communities that we focus our efforts on are persons with disabilities (PWDs) and low-income families.

Our work is centred around 2 core areas:
1. Digital inclusion where we provide refurbished computing devices to needy families, conduct digital literacy training to equip the community with know-how and run free laptop repair clinics in the rental HDB blocks.
2. Assistive Technology where we develop low cost and effective solutions to help PWDs overcome their daily challenges and live a life of independence and opportunities.
