Facing Financial Hardship
Mr Lim’s 61-year-old wife is holding a Long-Term Visit Pass and is working part time in a stall earning S$500. The couple have a 26-year-old son. Speaking to Mr Lim at his 1 room rental flat, he sadly informs us that his relationship with his son is estranged as he refuses to hold down full time employment and even asks his parents for money.
Living on S$500 a month has been difficult for both Mr Lim and his wife. He tells us that they eat very simply, and he turns off the lights in order to save money on electricity.
