Give one of the most meaningful hongbao to someone this Chinese New Year.
Chinese New Year is a timeless tradition of exchanging auspicious tribute between families, relatives and friends. Celebrated by more than 20% of the world’s population, it is a time where families gather to feast and look forward to an auspicious and prosperous year ahead.
Yet for many low-income families, the celebration is a sombre and stressful time when they are already struggling to meet their daily needs.
As part of a yearly thematic campaign, Ray of Hope aims to raise funds for low-income families who would have otherwise missed the opportunity to celebrate Chinese New Year due to their circumstances. With your help, we aim to raise $12,130 for 35 families – including 78 adults and 28 children. Here are some of those who you will be helping:
Uncle Li
We first heard of Uncle Li through a member of the public. Without a picture for reference and given only a vague description to look for “an old man wearing an orange shirt outside of a drink stall”, the Ray of Hope team set out to find this mysterious elderly gentleman. You can find Uncle Li’s story here: https://test.rayofhope.sg/campaign/uncle-lee/
Annette
Annette is a true inspiration to us all. She is a full-time caregiver to three boys aged 6, 10 and 12. All three of them were diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). While holding the fort with three rambunctious kids is already a tiring struggle in itself, she does it with pride, joy and the hope that they will get to celebrate Chinese New Year with a little extra love from you. Read more about them here: https://test.rayofhope.sg/campaign/annette/
Help us raise $12,130 for 35 families (78 adults and 28 children). While we revel in the celebrations, let’s not forget those who await even a sliver of hope to be a part of it.
At Ray of Hope, 100% of your donations will go to our beneficiaries. Your contribution is not only empowering but a significant gesture in reaffirming someone’s human dignity.
