Ms Lee is one of the 31 identified recipients of the campaign. Ray of Hope has raised $300 for her family and and recently met them for their cheque disbursement. Ms Lee shared with us that she has been trying her best to take on part-time cleaning job which pays $50/day so that she can sustain some income for the family. Unfortunately, she suffered a fall on her first day of work and has since lost the job. Meanwhile, her younger brother has been undergoing further checks following his fall at home few months back which has resulted in blood clots and fluid in his head. Ms Lee is currently on long-term assistance, while her brother’s assistance ends this March. Although Ms Lee’s fundraising campaign has ended months back, she is thankful for the additional funds raised for her family as her elderly father who is currently residing in a nursing home will be returning home during CNY!

Shawn is one of the 31 identified recipients of the campaign. Ray of Hope has raised $200 for his family and recently met him for the cheque disbursement.

Thank you donors for giving hope to Shawn, a helpless caregiver to his elderly bedridden father. Thank you for making this New Year a better one for them.

Mdm Chua is one of the 31 identified recipients of the campaign. Ray of Hope has raised $200 for her family and recently met her for her cheque disbursement. The elderly told us that she was not expecting to receive additional funds for the festive season. When the case workers visited Mdm Chua and her son at their new 2-room rental flat, the house was sparsely furnished as they were rushing to move in before New Year. Mdm Chua, who goes for dialysis thrice a week, currently only relies on her son’s income as a cleaner to make ends meet. She also told us that it has always been their wish to have better living conditions as their previous flat was more than 30 years old. Their new flat is also a stone away from the workplace of Mdm Chua’s son, which means that he can now save on his transport expenses. Mdm Chua and her son are grateful for the funds raised for New Year, and send their regards to the donors who have helped them during this period.

81-year-old Mdm Wong is also one of the recipients for the Hong Bao for Hope 2020 campaign, and we have raised an additional $200 for her. The elderly was delighted and grateful that with the money, she is able to purchase the food that she likes so that she gets to enjoy a good meal, at least on New Year’s Day. Health wise, she told us that her tumour has been painful, but she remains reluctant to undergo the operation due to her age. She is grateful that she is still mobile at her age and is able to move around on her own. Mdm Wong told us that it is her wish that the everyone who has helped her in one way or another will enjoy great health and happiness! She also wishes everyone a Happy New Year!

Mdm Tan is one of the identified recipients of the Hong Bao for Hope 2020 campaign.

Quoting Mdm Tan, “I am very happy to receive this extra money for my family’s celebrations”.

The elderly was happy to receive the additional funds for her family when the case workers visited her earlier, and wishes the donors a happy new year!

Do you remember Mr Lim, the cancer patient and his wife, Mdm Goh? The case workers visited the elderly couple for their disbursement today. Mr Lim and Mdm Goh have also received funds from the Hong Bao for Hope campaign. Unlike other clients who will be celebrating CNY with their family, the couple will not be having any reunion dinner with their daughter due to their estranged relationship. Nonetheless, Mr Lim and Mdm Goh are appreciative of the funds raised for them this New Year!

Changmei is one of the recipients for the Hong Bao for Hope 2020 campaign. When the case workers met her to disburse the funds to her, Changmei was with a fellow migrant worker and her family, rendering assistance and support to the family whenever necessary. Changmei was also thanking Ray of Hope profusely for the additional funds raised, as she has been staying in Singapore for more than eight months with no income. Despite her financial constraints, Changmei has been extremely helpful towards the other fellow migrant workers and helping them whenever she can.

Hong Bao for Hope 2020 is fully raised, thanks to the generous donors who have donated! The case workers are meeting the families this week to disburse the funds to them for their Chinese New Year preparations. The clients who have received the donations, of which are some spending this CNY without their families, are immensely thankful for these funds raised in addition to their individual campaigns.

Among the 31 recipients of this campaign is Aunty Florence, the caregiver to her 83-year-old bedridden husband who has been unable to work since the onset of his stroke. Aunty Florence herself suffers from multiple chronic ailments.

Quoting the 73-year-old, “Thank you for showing me that we are not forgotten. Mr Chua (her husband) has not been working since his stroke. We are thankful because everything is so expensive now. With the extra $200, we can use it to buy his supplements and necessities for the house for New Year.”

Some of our elderly clients like Aunty Florence has come a long way just to put a decent meal on the table, while struggling without knowing if they will ever get well or even better.
