Ali first came to work in Singapore in July 2018. He worked for a year as a general worker at a shipyard before he was transferred to the company workshop. A year or so later, he met with an accident at his workplace. On 16th October 2020, Ali unwittingly stepped on a cable tray and tripped. The 32-year-old injured his back and neck when he fell. Having lost his consciousness, Ali was sent to the hospital by his employer. Ali was hospitalised for ten days, and was given five months of medical leave. He has also remitted the MC wages that he received from his employer, amounting to around $2,400.

The 32-year-old was the main breadwinner supporting his family before his accident. With his salary each month, Ali remitted the bulk of his salary home so that his family does not have to live in poverty. Ali’s family consists of his elderly parents, his wife and school-going daughter, and a younger brother.

Even as he tries to work towards recovery by attending regular physiotherapy sessions, Ali is under great distress as he is still unable to return to work as he is currently holding a Special Pass. Ray of Hope would like to raise $3,400 ($850 x 4 months) to support Ali and his family for the next 4 months as he works towards recovery.
