The Struggle

Mr Harry is only 27 years old and is currently in a halfway house due to narcotics offences. When Ray of Hope’s case managers met Mr Harry, he was full of regret and is determined to change his life around. Mr Harry’s eyes sparkled when he spoke about his love for Yoga and the Yoga instructor’s course that he is enrolled in.

Mr Harry wishes to be a yoga instructor and dreams of owning his own studio one day. Mr Harry credits yoga and the calmness that comes with it as the turning point in his life. This strong determination to change his life for the better can already be seen while he was incarcerated. He started working in prison in the laundry department earning some pocket money that he now uses to pay for his transport and meals while studying for his course. However, the pocket money earned is fast depleting.

While yoga has given Mr Harry the calmness and determination to change his life around, he is still afraid of the future. Mr Harry shared with us that he is scared society will continue to judge him even though he is working hard to change his life around.

Help Needed – Give Hope

It is not easy for ex-offenders to turn their lives around. They continue to face tremendous amount of pressure including judgement by society. Mr Harry is working hard towards achieving his goal to be a yoga instructor. This accredition and ultimately, having a job with a steady income will put Mr Harry on the right track and a better future for himself.

Ray of Hope would like to raise S$680 (S$340 x 2 months) to defray the cost of Mr Harry’s transport and meals while he is studying extremely hard to earn his certification as a certified yoga instructor. Please give hope to Mr Harry. He is only 27 years old and he still has a long way ahead of him. People deserves second chances and Mr Harry is working extremely hard towards redemption and changing his life for the better.
