The Struggle
Mr Haran is 55 years old. He is currently in a halfway house serving the remainder of his sentence due to narcotics offences. Mr Haran spoke deeply about his regret and wanting to turn his life around. While incarcerated, he missed his elderly mother deeply and regretted his decision.
Mr Haran has a 74-year-old mother who is currently working as a cook at a school canteen. Currently in a halfway house, Mr Haran has made full use of his time and is taking 2 courses to improve himself, food hygiene and cleaning supervision. Once his course finishes in a few months’ time, he will be actively searching for employment as he wishes to support his elderly mother. Mr Haran informs us that he wishes to open a stall selling food to the morning and afternoon crowd.
Mr Haran misses his mother deeply. Even though she visits him regularly, Mr Haran knows that it is difficult for her to make the long commute to the halfway house that he is in due to her advanced age. He is therefore, determined to turn his life around as he wishes to be a filial son to his mother.
Give Hope – Help Needed
Mr Haran is currently diligently taking up two courses in order to improve himself and secure a better paying job. He is trying to pick up the pieces and is determined to put his past behind him in order to support his elderly mother.
Mr Haran also suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. His medicines are currently not subsidised as his CHAS card is still pending for approval. He also struggles with his transport allowance as he is currently taking 2 courses for self-improvement.
Ray of Hope is therefore trying to raise S$512 (S$128 x 4 months) to defray his medical and transport expenses while he tries his best to turn over a new leaf. Please give hope to Mr Haran while he strives to be a better and filial son.
