Her husband’s income is insufficient to make ends meetÂ
Mdm Farah is the mother of 5 children aged 13, 11, 4, 2 and 3 months old. Speaking to the case workers at their two-room rental flat, Mdm Farah recounted incidents when she was strapped for cash financially as her husband’s salary as a delivery driver was insufficient for the family. While Mdm Farah’s husband brings home $1,600, half of his salary goes to his own expenses and the remaining goes to the family. As such, the family is currently also relying on their newly approved social assistance of $390 to make ends meet.
“My husband earns $1,600 a month, but what he is contributing is sufficient for us every month”, Mdm Farah told us. She also added that it has been a stressful period for her, having to source for financial aid for her children’s expenses, to ensuring that there is food for her children. She told us that she would like to work once her youngest daughter reaches the age of 18 month to be enrolled in infant care.
Financial Breakdown
Ray of Hope would like to raise $2,700 ($450 x 6 months) to help Mdm Farah with her children (pocket money allowances, transport, milk and diapers). Please donate to a struggling mum who hopes to provide for her children.
* Mdm Farah is currently receiving social assistance for 6 months from March to August 2020.Â
