The Struggle
Mdm Sri, a 23 years old Singaporean, lives in a two-room rental flat with her family of 5. She has 3 children (8, 1 & 2 months old) and with the family relying on her husband’s sole income, the family is barely making ends meet each month. With three young children to care for, Mdm Sri and her husband are struggling with their children’s milk and diapers expenses each month. They have also accumulated some living arrears, largely owing to HDB ($1,535.10) and Town Council ($109.30).
Help Needed – Give Hope
Mdm Sri was working as an Assistant Teacher with a nett pay of $1400 before her last job as a coordinator. However, she was on a 6-month contract and the contract ended in end 2018. Since then, Mdm Sri has been focusing on the caregiving duties for her 3 young children while her husband takes on delivery jobs. With a nett household income of $1,500 now and now that she is not working due to her caregiving duties, she is not eligible for maximum subsidies for her child’s infant care fees and is paying $280/month after minimal subsidies. Mdm Sri is hoping to seek employment once her baby hits the minimum age for enrolling in infant care.
Mdm Sri and her husband hope to provide their children with their basic needs, yet they often find themselves worried about not having food on the table for their children month after month. They are trying to save up to clear their arrears so that the family does not continue to live in debts.
Financial Breakdown
Ray of Hope would like to support Mdm Sri by raising $1,200 ($300 x 4 months) to defray the family’s living expenses. Your donations can go a long way to helping to lighten their financial load as they save up to clear their household arrears.
*Mdm Sri is currently not receiving SSO assistance.
