The Struggle
Mdm Linda, a 21-year-old Singaporean, lives in a two-room rental flat with her family of four. She is a mother of two children, age 2 and 11 months old. Her husband currently works as a contract driver. With his income of S$1,000 each month, the family is barely able to cope with their household expenses each month. As such, they have accumulated some debts owing to their rental, utilities, town council and phone bill payments.
Help Needed – Give Hope
Mdm Linda’s husband has attempted to seek higher paying jobs, but it has not been easy especially when he does not have a degree nor a diploma. Mdm Linda has extremely limited work experience as she only took on part-time jobs prior to her pregnancy, but stopped working to be the main caregiver to her two young children. However, she hopes to seek employment after her child settles into childcare so that the heavy responsibility of supporting the family will not fall solely on her husband’s shoulders.
With an income that is barely sufficient to cover their expenses and minimal financial assistance from their family members, Mdm Linda and her husband are worried about putting their two young children through poverty and being unable to provide for their basic needs, especially with their children’s milk and diapers expenses.
Financial Breakdown
ROHI would like to raise $900 ($300 x 3 months) for the family to defray their groceries expenses. Your donations can go a long way to giving the family hope!
*Mdm Linda is currently not receiving public assistance from the Social Service Office (SSO).
