When the caseworkers met 53-year-old Chandra, he shared about his reflections during his time at the halfway house. Chandra had a stable employment as a cleaner prior to his incarceration, and was supporting himself with a gross income of $1,400.

Recalling how incarceration has changed his life, Chandra shared about how he feels distant from his siblings after losing their trust, something that he took for granted. He also faces challenges reintegrating into the society, but hopes to work on reconciling his relationships with his family first. Chandra has a sister who is also 53, and an elder brother who is unable to work due to his health issues. 4 of their siblings, as well as their parents had passed away.

Despite his health issues, Chandra is taking steps to rebuild his life and reconcile relationships with his siblings. He suffers from heart and kidney issues, as well as Hepatitis C. In spite of that, he has started work a week ago as a cleaner, and hopes to apply for a rental flat after his employment is stabilised. Ray of Hope wishes to raise $900 ($300 x 3 months) to support Chandra while he saves up for his rental flat and works towards self-resilience.
