Ray of Hope is raising $2,000 ($500 x 4 months) to support Anisul and his family.

Anisul, 28, is a Bangladeshi migrant worker. He is the second child and the sole provider for his parents and younger brother. Anisul first came to Singapore in 2016 and worked in a shipyard for two years before returning to Bangladesh when the company closed down. In 2018, he paid S4,700 in agent fees and returned to Singapore. Anisul had been working for 11 months before he met with an accident.

The Accident

On 8th April 2019, while cycling to the company’s storeroom after work, Anisul fell off the bicycle. As the company’s bicycle did not have brakes, Anisul fell off when he swerved to avoid a car. He sustained injuries to his shoulder, arm, thigh, chest and left back.

Although the doctor recommended that Anisul undergo an MRI, Anisul’s employer did not issue a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) and further treatment could not be sought. Anisul still suffers pain in his left shoulder, arm and back. He is eager to recover so that he can resume working to support his family.

Anisul was earning an average monthly salary of S$750 prior to the accident. He would remit most of that sum to his family. It has been over a year since the accident and Anisul’s case with the Ministry of Manpower is pending.

In the meantime, Anisul is in great distress as he has not been able to send money to his parents, both of whom have medical conditions.
