Angela is a mother of two children aged 8 and 4. The 43-year-old had resigned from her previous employment since her youngest son was born and relies on her husband financially. However, due to the estranged marital relationship and cultural differences, her husband is largely uninvolved in financial contribution and caregiving matters. Angela decided against confronting him but to shoulder the responsibility due to past occurrences of family violence.

The physical and emotional task of caring for her child with special needs can have no end in sight. Yet even in the most demanding and challenging times in her caregiving journey, the devoted mum always prioritise her children’s well-beings over hers. A large part of Angela’s time each day is spent managing her youngest son who suffers from VACTERL Association since birth, coupled with lungs and kidney issues. VACTERL association is a disorder that affects many body systems. VACTERL stands for vertebral defects, anal atresia, cardiac defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, renal anomalies, and limb abnormalities. He has completed nine surgeries over the past years with many more to come.  Apart from caring for her sons, Angela also takes care of her mum who suffers from dementia, and dad who is a stroke patient.

Ray of Hope wishes to raise $6,168 to help Angela with her two son’s expenses for a year. $514 a month would help defray Angela’s expenses for her elder son’s school expenses ($64/month) and younger son’s milk and diapers expenses ($450/month). The single mum is trying her best to pick herself up and work on straightening her finances.
