Wendy is a 20-year-old Singaporean. She was abandoned at birth and had been placed in various children’s homes in Malaysia since. Growing up as a youth was challenging for Wendy, even when she was placed under the care of her natural parent and grandparent in Singapore. She was often subjected to physical abuse which led to the estranged relationship with her paternal family. Wendy is currently staying in a shelter and in her final year of a Vocational Certification Program at Metta School. She has also recently started working part-time in hopes of supporting herself.

Despite the lack of family support, Wendy is a keen and quick learner who is self-motivated. She has picked up various skills on her own over the years. These skills include becoming bilingual in Malay and Tamil languages through movies, paper origami as well as calligraphy. She has also picked up baking skills from the vocational institution where she is attending school at. She hopes to hone her baking skills to able to start her own bakery one day.

Wendy is supported with a monthly allowance of $100 from her father, but it is insufficient to cover her daily expenses. Ray of Hope wishes like to raise $2,700 ($900 x 3 months) to support Wendy, and the funds raised will cover:

1. Meals: $450
2. Counselling and Therapy: $300 (after subsidy)
3. Utilities and daily care: $150
4. School and necessities: $100
