A 20-year-old’s wish for a better future
Wendy is a 20-year-old Singaporean. She was abandoned at birth and had been placed in various children’s homes in Malaysia since. Growing up as a youth was challenging for Wendy, even when she was placed under the care of her natural parent and grandparent in Singapore. She was often subjected to physical abuse which led to the estranged relationship with her paternal family. Wendy is currently staying in a shelter and in her final year of a Vocational Certification Program at Metta School. She has also recently started working part-time in hopes of supporting herself.

Wendy graduated from school in November 2021 and achieved good academic results. She is working closely with a job coach from school to secure a job upon graduation and has undergone her first job interview on 6 December 2021. She is continuing to hone her independent living skills through various programs in the shelter, such……
