Mdm. Fauziah is the main caregiver of her two children, 11 and 9. The couple’s 9-year-old son suffers from various conditions including autism spectrum disorder, fine motor delay and speech delay. Her husband is the sole breadwinner supporting the family with his income that ranges between $800 to $1,100 as a delivery assistant. The family is also taking care of Mdm. Fauziah’s elderly dad.

Even with just a primary education, Mdm. Fauziah’s husband never stops trying his best for his family. Despite the tiring nature of his job, he tries to work longer hours. Unfortunately, his working hours were affected by the Covid-19 measures that came in place, and he is no longer able to clock in as much overtime hours as he was, pre-Covid times.

Mdm. Fauziah had worked part-time as a cashier, but quit to take care of their sons. She shares that despite the financial strains that they face, they do not wish to rely on social assistance for long, as she and her husband have been trying their best to manage the situation at home. However, the fluctuation of the family’s income also makes it challenging for her to prioritise their monthly expenditures, depending on how much her husband earns in that month. In the meantime, the family has applied for the renewal of their assistance from the Social Service Office (SSO).

Ray of Hope wishes to raise $2,050 for Mdm. Fauziah and her family. This will help them with their food and children’s expenses for the next 5 months ($410 x 5 months).
