Penny University would like to do our part to provide food for 70 families who have financial constraints and face food security issues. As Ray of Hope’s SME partner, Penny will cover 20% of the food price, arrange for deliveries and cover delivery costs. Ray of Hope will identify the beneficiaries of this week-long crowdfunding campaign.

When the campaign closes on [date], depending on how much has been raised, Penny will work out the number of families that can be covered by the raised funds and liaise with Ray of Hope for the delivery schedule.

About Penny University

We are a specialty coffeehouse established in 2012 in the East Coast. Started out just selling specialty coffee, we have since expanded to also have full all-day brunch and dinner in our menu. Very much influenced by the speakeasy cafes in London, Penny University is a place where one can just enjoy great coffee, meet people from all walks of life and have just about any conversation.

One of our core beliefs has always been to work closely with our community and support start-ups and other aspiring businesses. As much as possible, we source everything from within our immediate community in the East … for example cakes from start-up bakeries, carpentry from mom & pop stores nearby, eggs, vegetables and meat from suppliers down the road and design work from studios in Joo Chiat. We also work closely with secondary schools in the area to host coffee workshops and provide cooking lessons for their curriculums. We also have a holiday work placement programme with one secondary school in the area.
