Pramod, 49, faces difficulties reintegrating into society after his incarceration. Through our conversations with him, he shares that he was able to support his family with the income that he was earning as a prime mover. Pramod’s family consists of his wife, son, pregnant daughter-in-law and Pramod’s disabled elderly brother. Pramod’s two daughters are married and are not staying with the family.
Inevitably, his incarceration has resulted in soured relationships with his family. However, he hopes to change himself to salvage these relationships and for his family to re-accept him. The tense relationships he shares with his family as well as the lack of social support from friends also attribute to his emotional stress.
Nonetheless, Pramod wants to prove himself capable of changing. He confides in us that it hasn’t been an easy journey for him. He also understands that it takes more than just determination to be re-accepted by his family. In his attempt to skill up, Pramod has enrolled in various courses, including the forklift training that he will start at the end of this month.
Ray of Hope wishes to raise $2,800 ($700 x 4 months) to help Pramod and his family for 4 months. The financial aid will support Pramod ($500/month) while he seeks employment, and also go towards helping his family ($200 NTUC vouchers/month).
*Pramod is not receiving social assistance.
