37-year-old Mdm Mas is the main caregiver to her five young children aged 11, 9, 6, 4 and 2. Her husband is the sole breadwinner supporting the family with his income of $2,100 as a cleaner supervisor. The couple is also supporting Mdm Mas’s 91-year-old grandmother who needs assistance with her everyday needs. Unfortunately for them, their 11-year-old son Andreyan was diagnosed with a brain tumor on 21 April 2021.

Prior to the diagnosis, Mdm Mas noticed that her son was constantly vomiting and was experiencing terrible headaches. When Mdm Mas heard the news regarding her son’s brain tumor, she was devastated. Since the diagnosis, Andreyan has not been attending school due to the frequency of his medical appointments and chemotherapy. Andreyan’s physical strength has weakened due to the side effects of his chemotherapy and medications. He now spends most of his days recuperating at home.

Both Mdm Mas and her husband were originally both working to support the family. However, as their youngest daughter is not attending school yet, she has to care for her children while her husband works to support the family financially. However, her husband’s sole income is barely sufficient for the family to get by each month.

Mdm Mas has applied for various financial assistance, and her financial assistance from SSO is still pending for approval. She also hopes that her son is able to recover soon so that she can return to work and share the financial load with her husband, after their youngest child enrols enrols in childcare.

Hence, Ray of Hope would like to assist Mdm Mas while her SSO assistance gets renewed. $2,700 ($900 x 3 months) will help Mdm Mas and her family with their groceries expenses.
