Mdm Norani, a 32-year-old Singaporean, lives in a two-room rental flat with her family of six. She has four children aged 9,7, 5 and 3 respectively.

Previously, the family was relying on her husband’s sole income as a food delivery rider earning around $1,200 a month. However, due to a road traffic accident on the 8th of April 2021, Mdm Norani’s husband is no longer able to work for the time being. The accident has resulted in a fracture of his right hand and he sustained multiple abrasions on his right arm and thigh. The family is now relying on assistance from the Social Service Office (SSO). However, this amount is barely sufficient for the family to get by each month. With four young children to care for, Mdm Norani and her husband are struggling to provide food on the table.

To help support the family’s expenses, Mdm Norani is now taking up a security officer course to upskill herself. She is hoping to seek employment once she has completed the course.
