Mdm Shikin, 34 years old, is the mother of 7 boys aged 16, 15, 11, 10, 8, 7 and 5. Last October, her husband left the family after an argument and has not returned home since. Mdm Shikin’s husband who was working at a food stall was the sole breadwinner of the family. Although Mdm Shikin is currently relying on social assistance, she is determined to find full-time employment to support her school-going children.

With only a primary school education, Mdm Shikin understands the importance of letting her children attend school. Mdm Shikin’s eldest son also expresses that he wish to drop out of school to help support the family.

Ray of Hope wants to raise $2608 ($652 x 4 months) to support the family’s groceries expenses and the children’s school allowances. $652 a month would help defray Mdm Shikin’s expenses while she looks for full-time employment.
