Mdm Yanti, 48-years-old, has four children between the age of 4 to 16 under her care. This includes her 14-year-old son who was diagnosed with autism when he was younger. Mdm Yanti’s husband previously worked as a school bus driver for five years. However, things took a turn when the company he worked with went bankrupt during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, her husband is self-employed and has been using his own van to transport students to and from school. His income was unfortunately affected during this tough period.
To help ease her husband’s financial burden, Mdm Yanti took up a part-time job as a cleaner earning around S$500 per month. Mdm Yanti shared that she wishes to work full-time in order to provide a better life for her children. However, her health and her caregiving duties hinders her from doing so. Last year, Mdm Yanti was bought to the hospital for having prolonged menstruation. The doctor has advised her to only carry out light duties and she was prescribed with medication.
The resilient mother now has to juggle between her role as a worker and a mother while taking care of her own health and well-being. This causes her to be under tremendous stress and it has affected her health since then. The family also has to scrimp to save up every extra dollar to make ends meet.
Ray of Hope would like to raise $2,500 ($500 x 5 months) to help Mdm Yanti’s family with their groceries expenses.
* Mdm Yanti is currently receiving financial assistance from SSO.Â
