Mr A has spent 8 years working in Singapore at various companies. He was at his latest place of employment for one year before his accident occured.

Mr A lost his balance and fell on his back after carrying reinforcement bars on 21 May 2019. He was taken to the clinic and the doctor provided him with 2 days MC and medication, however the pain persisted. Subsequently, he went to a second doctor and was given 7 days MC, an injection and advised to take an MRI. However, his employers refused to pay for the MRI.

Mr A then visited a 3rd doctor at Changi General Hospital, he was provided treatment and referred to a specialist in Singapore General Hospital. The appointment was scheduled for 2 months away but his employer did not provide a Letter of Guarantee (LOG). A new appointment was given but his LOG was invalid. His employer then provided a valid LOG on the third request. Mr A went for an MRI on 22 Feb 2020 and was advised to proceed for Surgery and to no longer carry heavy items. He has not gone for surgery as yet.

Mr A submitted his MCs to MOM on 4 October 2019 and is waiting to hear back from them.

From June 2019 to Dec 2019 his MC wages were not paid. But he was given Jan and Feb 2020 MC wages. And then once again from March 2020 till June 2020 he was not paid. He is unable to send money home. His elderly father and mother in his home country are relying on him for sustenance and other living expenses. His younger brother is  currently studying in university 1st year. Also staying with them are his elder brother and his wife and two sons. They are farmers. His mother is sick – heart problem, high BP and diabetes and needs to go for treatment at hospital.

Mr A and his family are also in debt. They have borrowed about $7,000 to help them previously as well as to tide through this difficult period.

Ray of Hope would like to raise $3,600 to help Mr A and his family. $900 a month for 4 months will help them greatly. When Mr A was working, he would send home about $800 of his $1,100 – $1,200 salary. His loss of income has affected their family greatly.
