Mdm Rim and her family are struggling to get through the current Covid-19 period.
She works as an office cleaner and brings back about $700 a month. Her husband used to work at pasar malams around Singapore and was able to bring home around $800 a month. However, he has been unable to work for a few months now as all the pasar malams have since close and are unsure of when they will re-open. He is actively searching for a job, but as an ex-inmate he is finding it to be quite challenging. Furthermore, the Covid-19 situation is making his job hunt more difficult.
Their elder son is in NS and brings home the basic pay of $550 a month. Their second son is in ITE and will start needing a daily allowance to travel back and forth to school. Their household expenses are still piling up and the loss of her husband’s income has made things quite challenging.
They have applied for food ration assistance from another agency and are awaiting the outcome of their application. They are receiving assistance from MUIS until October 2020 and have been rejected from SSO support repeatedly due to the 3 incomes, one of which is no longer being earned.
Ray of Hope would like to raise $2000 for Mdm Rim and her family for 4 months to tide over this difficult time. This will assist them with their living expenses and allow for Mdm Rim’s husband to find a job once our Covid-19 situation in Singapore improves.Â
