Dealing with setbacks is an inevitable part of life. But for many of the children at Harun Ghani Education Fund, the loss of a parent due to incarceration because of drugs can take a toll on a child’s emotional and physical well-being.
For a young child, the news of his/her parent not being able to come home can cause feelings of confusion, fear, and anxiety.
Studies have shown that children of incarcerated parents are an extremely vulnerable and are much more likely to have behavioural problems and physical and mental health conditions.
But we can help support these children.
“When the world feels scary, cultivating hope is an act of resilience.” – Dr Erin Lynn Raab
In a concerted bid to provide support and needs of children of drug-affected families, we have designed a programme (Resilience @ Explorers) to build resilience in children from drug affected families. Kowabunga! Global Pte Ltd will be sponsoring 30% of the programme, but we need your help.

About Harun Ghani Education Fund
The Harun Ghani Education Fund (HGEF) was set up to honour the late Mr Harun Ghani, who worked tirelessly for the prevention of drug abuse and the rehabilitation of drug offenders in Singapore.
Beyond working directly with the drug offenders, Mr. Harun’s Meet-the-Family initiative raised awareness of the impact of drug abuse on the entire family. A former teacher, Mr. Harun always took time to show an interest in the children of the drug offenders and inquire as to their progress at school – “Got pass exam?” A “yes” answer would always be rewarded with a huge smile, pat on the back and a monetary award to the child.
HGEF continues his practice of reminding the children of the importance of education.
