30 year-old Anna is an unwed mother to her 5 year-old daughter. The hardworking and diligent mother was previously working as a stall assistant till 2018 with an approximate income of $600 per month. Unfortunately, she could not continue working as her employer was unhappy as Anna has to pick her daughter up from school three times a week, and could not meet her scheduled working hours.
Anna’s daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) when she was in infant care. Apart from pre-school, she also attends a special needs school thrice a week. Since her daughter’s diagnosis, Anna has devoted her time to care for her daughter.
With no educational qualifications and the lack of job experience, Anna is worried about providing for her daughter. However, she wishes to enrol in courses using funds from her SkillFuture credits to up-skill, in hopes of seeking higher paying jobs so that she can better support her daughter.
Living together with Anna is her mother and stepfather. Both Anna’s mother and her stepfather work as dishwashers. Over the years, the family has accumulated arrears of more than $2,200 and has trouble paying them.
*Anna’s social assistance ended in May 2022. She is renewing it.
