Ray of Hope is raising $3,180 ($530 x 6 months) to help Renuga with her family’s living expenses. The financial assistance will allow Renuga some respite from her financial burdens and encourage her to persevere on her caregiving journey.

49 year-old Renuga is the sole caregiver to her 74 year-old mother who was diagnosed with dementia about six years ago. In early August 2021, Renuga’s mother suffered a stroke after a fall. Since then, she has been bed-bound and has difficulty communicating. The senior is entirely dependent on her daughter for her activities of daily living.

Renuga was working in the F&B sector, but had to quit her job to care for her mother. Her mother receives monthly financial assistance from the Home Caregiving Grant and a quarterly payout from the Silver Support Scheme. However, there are still expenses that need to be paid out-of-pocket.

Despite the lack of support from her two siblings, Renuga remains a dedicated caregiver who gives her best for her mother’s care. Being alone on this caregiving journey makes it challenging for Renuga to seek employment or to plan for herself.
