34-years-old Jurainah lives together with her husband and 13-year-old daughter in a two-room flat. Jurainah suffers from Eye Cornea Opacities, a condition where her cornea is scarred causing cloudy and blurry vision on her left eye. Jurainah’s husband works as a cleaner but has been financially and emotionally neglecting the both of them for the past year, only giving approximately $150 to $200 every month for the family’s daily household expenses. Despite being careful with her expenses, the money can only sustain them for two weeks.

Jurainah has aspirations to provide a better life for her daughter. She has been actively seeking employment but has been finding it difficult due to her condition and tight financial circumstances. 

Ray of Hope would like to support Jurainah by fundraising $2,400 ($480 x 5 months). This will help with her and her daughter’s living expenses while she seeks further treatment and employment. 

“It has been difficult trying to get by with so little. I hope to gain employment soon so that I can provide for my daughter.” shared Jurainah.

Jurainah’s husband has been working as a cleaner since March 2022. Despite his monthly income of $1,100, he has been only providing Jurainah and her 12-year-old daughter with a small portion of it every month. Jurainah shared that she will only receive $150 to $200 every month from her husband. This allowance is used for their daily living expenses such as food and household bills. By the end of two weeks, she would have exhausted all the allowance given despite being frugal with her expenses. 

Due to the frequent episodes of financial and emotional neglect, Jurainah is now determined to provide a better life for her daughter. She has been actively seeking employment but has been finding it challenging due to her medical condition and tight financial circumstances. Jurainah suffers from Eye Cornea Opacities, a condition where her cornea is scarred causing cloudy and blurry vision on her left eye. However, she did not proceed with further checks at the hospital as she was afraid of the cost of treatment. 

Living an extremely frugal lifestyle, the only thing on Jurainah’s mind is the wellbeing of her daughter.
