Sobhan, 37, is a Bangladeshi migrant worker. He is a father with two young daughters and the sole provider to his elderly parents and wife. Sobhan came to Singapore in 2018 for the fourth time to work as a general construction worker. Only two years upon his arrival in Singapore, Sobhan met with a workplace related accident in March 2020 resulting in an injury on his shoulder and back.Â
Ray of Hope is raising $2,200 ($550 x 4 months) to support Sobhan and his family. This will help Sobhan with his living expenses in Singapore and allow him to send remittance home to his family.
In March 2020, Sobhan was in the midst of working when an installation pipe fell onto his shoulder from the level above him. This caused him to fall on his shoulder, subsequently injuring his shoulder and back. To this day, Sobhan is still experiencing pain in his shoulder and back.Â
Sobhan was already making progress to repay his $7,000 bank loans that he took for his agent fee while he was working. However, his family has since incurred new debts, as Sobhan has not been able to send money home for almost two years. He is eager to recover so that he can resume working to support his family and has been diligently attending his monthly physiotherapy sessions.Â
Sobhan was earning a basic monthly salary of S$450 prior to the accident. He would remit most of that sum to his family. It has been almost two years since the accident and Sobhan is in great distress as he has not been able to support his family financially.Â
