Neng is an Indonesian domestic helper who has been working in Singapore for 22 years. She suffered a Brain Aneurysm and doctors have advised that she continues her treatment and recovery at home.
Ray of Hope would like to assist Neng with $9,600 ($800 x 12 months) to supplement her family’s living expenses.
Neng came from Indonesia, and has been a great help to Qiu Lin and her family, taking care and looking after the home with love and kindness for 22 years. Qiu Lin’s family treats Neng as one of their own.
On 12 August 2021, 48-year-old Neng was found on the kitchen floor with a small pool of blood from her head, conscious but unresponsive. After multiple examinations and scans, Neng was diagnosed with Grade 4 Aneurysm Rupture, a rupture of the blood vessel in the brain.
“Neng is like family to us. I wish to send her back to her family in the best condition possible,” shared Qiu Lin, the employer’s daughter.
Since the incident, Neng has been receiving treatment and rehabilitation with a physiotherapist, occupational and speech therapist in place. As a foreigner, Neng’s medical bills have been snowballing as she is not eligible to receive any subsidised treatment. Hence, Neng is expected to return home to Indonesia on the 28th of October 2021 as doctors believe she will heal better around her family members. Neng will continue to receive treatment in Indonesia and recuperate with her loved ones.
In 1999, Neng came to Singapore to work as a domestic helper in hopes of providing a better life for her elderly parents and daughter in Indonesia. She was financially providing for her parents before they passed on, her mother just earlier this year. It was only until then, that she could stop sending every cent she earned back home and start saving for her retirement. Since her arrival in Singapore, Neng has cared for her employer’s children like her own. The sweet motherly helper over the years had become a motherly figure, a best friend, and a sister to her Singaporean family.
Your donation will give Neng’s family the support while they prepare for the upcoming challenges to provide care to Neng!
