Health Background

Mdm Esteny, 53 years old, is currently critically ill. She is suffering from thyroid cancer, high blood pressure and heart related illness. Her health turned for the worst when Mdm Esteny suffered two strokes recently. Her first stroke was on the 2nd of October 2018 and she was hospitalised for more than 10 days. Her second stroke was on the 8th of November 2018 and  was hospitalised for 5 days. She currently has limited mobility and is unable to speak well due to her stroke.

The Struggle

Mdm Esteny is a non-citizen and is currently seeking divorce from her Singaporean husband. Her husband was physically abusive towards her and would physically hit her while she was still undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer. She fled their rental unit and is currently staying with her daughter, her Singaporean husband and their 7 children. All of them are currently staying in a 3 room HDB flat with Mdm Esteny sleeping in the living room.

Mdm Esteny is not a Singaporean therefore, her medical fees are not subsidised and expensive. Till date, she has incurred hospital arrears of more than S$34,000. As her divorce is ongoing, she has to be in Singapore and the process is excepted to take anywhere between 1 year to 2 years.

Help Needed- Give Hope

Mdm Esteny is currently under a very strict diet so as not to raise her blood pressure and to prevent a third stroke from happening. As she is not a citizen, she is unable to receive government financial assistance. While her daughter is currently caring for her, Mdm Esteny’s daughter has 7 children and finances are tight.

Ray of Hope would therefore like to raise S$800 (S$200 x 4 months) for Mdm Esteny’s living expenses while she undergoes treatment for stroke and cancer. Please give hope to Mdm Esteny as she is currently undergoing an extremely difficult period in life!
